The Peace Tree
A journey to discover peace and the values that sustain it, through dialogue, sharing and creativity.
This activity invites participants to reflect together on what “living in peace” really means, then turn their ideas into a unique work of art: their own Peace Tree.
Inspired by the Tree of Life, the tree has long represented the strength and beauty of existence. Its roots, trunk, branches and crown become a metaphor for our daily commitment to building a more harmonious world.
The initiative is promoted by Mil Milenios de Paz (https://milmileniosdepaz.org/) and Living Peace International.
Objectives
- Spread a true culture of peace.
- Strengthen dialogue, listening and cooperation skills, fostering positive relationships and teamwork.
- Build awareness of what promotes peace, the challenges it faces and the fruits of a culture of peace.
- Encourage creativity and artistic expression.
Activities
- Roots. As a group, think of leaders, figures or personalities who embody peace for you; discuss the value or message each conveys; choose the 5 most meaningful values together and write them on your tree’s roots.
- Trunk. Each participant writes down 5 personal qualities or skills that can promote peace; share your ideas, choose the 5 most representative qualities together and write them on the trunk.
- Branches. Think of a concrete action you have taken with others for peace; share it, choose the 5 most meaningful actions and write them on the branches.
- Crown. Imagine a world where everyone truly lives in peace; write down projects or dreams you would like to fulfil and choose the 5 most inspiring ideas for the crown.
Deadline
The initiative is always open: there is no deadline.
