Kites for Peace

Let our skies fill with colour!

Winds of Peace

This activity invites you to make kites that convey a message of peace. Each kite can speak of peace through its shape, design or a heartfelt phrase.

The best moment? Seeing them fly together in a public place, creating a display of colour and freedom that can inspire everyone who watches.

‘You, where you live, and I here — the same wind will embrace us…’

The initiative is promoted by Mimos para tu Ojos in close partnership with Living Peace International.

Objectives

  • Reflect on the values that promote peace.
  • Develop practical skills.
  • Develop creativity.
  • Build trust and reciprocity among participants.
  • Combine peacebuilding with physical activity.
  • Develop geographical knowledge.

Activities

  1. Reflect on a value related to peace: empathy, generosity, being the first to love, listening to others or respect.
  2. Work in pairs to make a peace kite, choosing its size, theme, colours and shape together.
  3. Explore together what makes a kite fly, taking participants’ ages into account.
  4. As a group, choose the place and day to fly your kites.

Deadline

There is no deadline: the timing depends on the season when favourable winds occur.
