Umbrellas for Peace

From the rubble of 11 September came an idea that could bring colour back to hope.

The American artist Matt Lamb decided to offer children who had lost their parents in the attacks a way to express what words could not convey. With brushes and colours, they turned ordinary umbrellas into canvases of emotion: every brushstroke a memory, every colour a dream of peace.

That simple, powerful gesture did not stop there: Umbrellas for Peace travelled around the world, bringing people, cultures and generations together under one symbol — an umbrella that protects not only from rain, but also from fear, hatred and silence.

The initiative is promoted by Mimos para tu Ojos and Living Peace International.
